Join us on our online Easter Egg Hunt

Coles Online easter egg huntBe the first to find the golden Easter egg and get a free delivery!

Join us on our Easter egg hunt each day to find the golden Easter egg picture just like the one below.  It will be hidden on a product information page or recipe on the Coles online shopping site. Vist us here on the blog, on  twitter or facebook to hear the clues.  Solve the clues, find the egg and send us the product or recipe name where the golden Easter egg is hidden each day.

There will be a new egg to hunt down every weekday from Thursday March 11 until Thursday April 1, so let your Easter Egg hunt start with us and have some fun!

To cater for people’s  different times and schedules, we will release the clues at a different hour on different days.  Hopefully this means more people can get involved when they have access to either twitter or facebook (as I understand not everyone does that as part of their job like me. Why is that?)

The first clue of the day will be given on twitter or facebook and in the comments section of this blog at the following times:
- 12pm (AEDT) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
- 7pm (AEDT) on Tuesday and Thursday

The clues and products will be varied, and to win all you have to do is be the first person to notify us via twitter or facebook of the product name or recipe name that features the golden Easter egg.

The egg will look like this…

…only the ? will be replaced by a number each day from 1-16.

THE WINNERS:

Egg 1 – Mel Caston
Egg 2 – Leah Clark-Vial
Egg 3 – Rachel Wheatley
Egg 4 – Angela Little
Egg 5 – Caprice Burrows
Egg 6 – Rachel Wheatley
Egg 7 – Christine Barter
Egg 8 – Rachel Wheatley
Egg 9 – Caprice Burrows
Egg 10 – Amena Norfolk
Egg 11 – Kelly Barratt
Egg 12 – Mandy Diggins
Egg 13 – Mandy Diggins
Egg 14 – Kelly Barratt
Egg 15 – Bonnie Davey
Egg 16 – Kelly Barratt

Terms and conditions:

  • First person to solve the clues and send the full name of the product or recipe to comment on this blog post,  tweet @colesonline on twitter or post the answer on the official Colesonline facebook page with the correctly numbered egg will be the winner.
  • Winners will have a free delivery credited to their Coles online shopping account in the form of a $12.50 credit, being the average delivery price.  Credit will expire 12 months after issue date if unused.
  • This is a game of skill and  chance will play no part in determining the competition winner.
  • The promotion commences on Thursday March 11 and closes on Thursday April 1, 2010.
  • The winners will be notified via Coles online twitter and facebook and published on the Coles online shopping blog.
  • If the winner does not have a Coles online shopping account or is outside the delivery zone, they may pass the prize onto another person of their choosing who does have a valid Coles online shopping  account.
  • Prizes must be claimed online and may not be redeemed for cash.
  • Individuals may win more than one prize, but can win no more than 3 times.
  • Employees and their immediate families of Coles and associated agencies are not elible to enter.
  • The promoter is Coles Supermarkets of 800 Toorak Road, Tooronga, VIC, 3146.  ABN 11004 089 936.

Not all that fair considering the competition is won by the FIRST person… West Aust is 3 hrs behind so we dont get any opportunity to win.

      March 10, 2010 at 1:05 pm | #2

Why not? You’ll see the clues at the same time that everyone else does. Although I just noticed that it was marked to start at 10am on Mon-Wed-Fri, it was meant to say 12pm instead.

EDIT: Re-reading, I see where the confusion is Julie. By “staggering” the release of the clues, I meant that on Tuesday and Thursday the clues would be released at a different time than on the other days – not at a different time for each state. It isn’t clear wording, so I’ve amended the post. Thanks for pointing it out.

You couldnt pay me enough money to be involved in the viral enviroment of facebook or twitter. i’ll pay me 8 or 9 bucks and save all the bloody hassle fixing me computer. You obvious are a webmaster for coles why not run it all from your own site and save people the heartache and problems involed with these useless social networking sites ????

  3. Claudette
    March 12, 2010 at 6:48 am | #4

This competition is not a fair one! Not everyone wants to join facebook or twitter…I agree with MrDingo2U. Why not run this competition from this website?

    • Bev
      March 12, 2010 at 1:07 pm | #5

True this competition should be ran from the site of the company not through others such as facebook or twitter (even if a member of such) most people deal with these sites for friends not other such stuff.

  4. Sheila
    March 12, 2010 at 9:32 am | #6

I couldn’t agree more with the last two comments. Wild horses wouldn’t drag me to either of those sites. So, I miss out on this competition. Can I claim discrimination, do you think ?

  5. Heath
    March 12, 2010 at 9:39 am | #7

MrDingo2U, Claudette and Sheila – one of the reasons is I can update those two networks from my phone, no matter where I am. Updating the blog, and monitoring it, from my phone is more difficult.

But not impossible. Ok, the people have spoken – starting from today, the clues will be posted here too, and posting answers in the comments section will be acceptable. The first clue for egg number 2 will be here at midday AEDT (2.5 hours from now).

    Well, have to be quick!
Also, I would like to wish all a HAPPY EASTER
Coles – Why as stated on TV products are not same price as in store – this is not fair to the fact I like to shop on-line as no car and the cost and hassel with taxi service. I don’t mind a delivery charge but prices being higher then in-store you just might loose customers.

    • Lauren
      March 18, 2010 at 10:47 am | #12

it depends where you live – if you put in different postcodes prices alter online. not even joking. supermarkets like to say its because of travel costs etc but its basically the richer parts of town

      • Merryn
        March 18, 2010 at 3:48 pm | #13

Hi Lauren – I understand it may look like that, but really it isn’t. Coles introduced State Based Pricing across NSW (and the other States) early this year, and our online pricing is also State Based. So you can log on and shop with a postcode from Cronulla in the south, Palm Beach in the north, Bondi in central Sydney and Parramatta in the west and you’ll find the same grocery prices online. Fresh fruit and vegetables do vary because we want to keep offering great local-market prices when we can get them. The only exceptions to this for our online offer are Newcastle and Canberra, where prices are actually slightly cheaper to encourage growth. Both regions are much more recent offers than Sydney.

    March 12, 2010 at 1:39 pm | #14

Lets see what happens in the near future with all issues – easter competition and prices of on-line to in-store.

  10. Vicki
    March 12, 2010 at 3:31 pm | #15

Yes I will be interested to see the prices issues. I am sick of paying more for online products. I may change to another company where I do not get charged more for online purchases.

  11. Bev
    March 12, 2010 at 4:08 pm | #16

Thanks, if only more people would reply to this agreeing that prices should be same as in-store they might do something about it; we are paying for delivery which I’m sure we don’t mind compare to a taxi fare (if you have no car. We are Citizens’ of concerns – help each other out especially these days of economic situation
    HAPPY SHOPPING

  12. Jude
    March 15, 2010 at 11:48 am | #18

I didn’t realise we were paying more online!! Prices should definitely be the same!! Heath, can you please explain why this is so??

    • Heath
      March 15, 2010 at 12:01 pm | #19

There is no price difference for most staple products like fruit, veggies, bread, fresh milk, meat or nappies. Those are exactly the same as in store. Catalogue specials (except for multi buys) are the same online as in store, and some specials are only available online.

There may be a small price difference on some other product lines which is to cover the costs of picking the order and packing for delivery.

The true value in shopping with coles.com.au is the ease and convenience of the service.

        March 25, 2010 at 9:03 am | #20

so if we are paying more for the item to cover packing & delivery then why are we also paying a delivery fee?

Thanks for the explanation re the pricing Heath – that all makes sense. I’ve had three deliveries now and have been very impressed, especially with the fruit and veg which have all been excellent quality. The delivery blokes have all been very helpful too.

  16. Rachel
    March 16, 2010 at 3:57 pm | #25

I really don’t mind if the prices online are more than the shelf price. Coles Online is worth its weight in gold. I’m happy to pay the extra to have someone do the legwork and delivery. Far less stressful and worth the money!

As for Facebook and Twitter, keep up the good work Heath. Viral marketing is definitely the way to go and utilising FB and Twitter really shows that Coles has its head screwed on.

  17. Jude
    March 16, 2010 at 4:03 pm | #26

I agree Rachel – and when I think about it I spend less overall because I’m not impulse buying so much. I also think Facebook and Twitter are the way to go – they make it easy to keep up with what’s going on and to communicate directly with retailers and other businesses without going into their various websites.
