
Another twelve months have flashed by and somehow it’s December again and nearly Christmas. I am sure for many Australians this is not a surprise. I’m equally sure there are others, like me, in a mild panic over where 2011 went! And more importantly what happened to November, and my determined plans to be at least vaguely organised this year…
I really should know better. Retail is even more passionate than my family about Christmas – and this is not a comparison to be taken lightly! Kate and the kids excelled themselves this year with our tree & decorations in pride of place by early November. My family has a commitment to festivity that I find either heart-warming or slightly disturbing, depending on my mood

I am not a good cook. I don’t think I’m a bad cook – I just can’t claim proficiency in something I attempt rarely. To put this in perspective, I lived in an apartment without a fridge for six months. As a 30 year old professional, not a student. Admittedly in St Kilda next door to a restaurant and opposite a 200m stretch of eclectic (and all-encompassing) takeaway options, but hopefully you get the picture. Christmas is nearly with us again! In my family this means Christmas planning & shopping from mid-November, plus conversations with our young children about how Santa always sees bad behaviour and how he’s going to get down a non-existent chimney! In your home it may be similar or very different. Either way, it’s an exciting and hopefully enjoyable time for most of us, and I do hope your Christmas and holiday period brings all you wish for.
