Fast Food At Home: Japanese Yakitori Chicken

I’ve typically bought Yakitori chicken kebabs as a quick lunch when I’m out shopping from Japanese food court outlets.  Yakitori are Japanese style chicken kebabs.  My daughter and I whipped up these kebabs for a simple Friday night dinner.  They are so easy to eat they would also be ideal for barbeques and parties.  Read more…

Terrific gift ideas for your child’s teachers this Christmas

This has been my daughters first year at school.  She has learnt so much and has thoroughly enjoyed learning. My son is in grade 2 and when asked what he did today at school. A common answer is ” We played games”.  When I delve further I find out he has been learning a core piece of the curriculum but in a fun way. My kids teachers have been wonderful again this year and as Christmas approaches we will be letting our teachers know they are appreciated.  We’ve come up with 6 terrific gift ideas that teachers are sure to enjoy.  These goodies are also great to be able to drop into hampers, and perhaps even give out on their own to neighbours and friends. Almond Fingers

Almond FingersI tasted these Almond Fingers at a morning tea a friend held a couple of years ago.  She generously wrote out the recipe and  I made them a few times and received rave reviews.  But in recent years I’d somehow lost the recipe.  As I was searching out gift ideas I came upon the recipe again.  This time I will be cooking them as a thank you gift for my children’s teachers.

Peppermint Stars for your teacher

Peppermint Star BiscuitsPeppermint and chocolate go so well together.  Some of my favourites are Peppermint Crisps, Aero Peppermint block chocolate and Peppermint Magnum ice creams.  And of course these Peppermint Star biscuits.  They are a perfect gift of appreciation for anyone, especially the teacher in your child’s life.  We made these Peppermint Stars for my daughter’s Prep teacher.  Stars for a star of a teacher this year.

Top Father’s day feast ideas

I have a couple of Dads in my life, my Dad and my hubby. I’m planning to cook up a storm for the day to  show them how much the kids and I appreciate them and to celebrate Dads and all they do.
