As all those who live in the southern states will be aware it has become increasingly cold over the past month. I must admit that Winter is not my favourite time of year, especially as many will tell you – “we didn’t have a summer in Melbourne, it was more like autumn!”.
Each year I tell myself that I need to just grin and bare it and look at the positive sides of winter. I am sure there are many but I really don’t like being cold, sitting in artificial heat and ensuring I have layers and layers of clothes to keep out the icy winds that are apparently coming from Antartica (or so they say on the weather channel!) It’s not always fun to remove the scarves, gloves, coats and thick socks that I have used to rug up so I don’t freeze!

I have just seen the new Coles Pets Magazine that is available to download and it could not have come at a more convenient time! We have added a new member to our four legged family and he is a wonderful ambassador for a rescue dog. His name is Boston and is an 18 month old, White Shepherd that had lived with kids, cats and another dog. These were the criteria I was looking for when wanting to find a companion for our 12 year old Springer Spaniel. Read more…
We are now into the last month of winter and the signs of Spring are upon us. However there are still some days in the Southern states where the temperature is hitting single figures for the day and therefore is not really the time for participating in outdoor events. It is now 4 weeks into the two legged kid starting school and mum, the non-cook has not been very creative when it comes to the lunches!
There are some great snack packs that you can get that the kid enjoys – Mainland munchables are a big hit – I have even taken some of these to work to supplement the cheese sandwich! The good thing is that there are many different varieties so the kid doesn’t get sick of the same one and there are just enough lollies to make him open the packet but not gorge on the contents.
