Yes – that is right, the Fete is complete, finished, all over and I am still standing!
My eldest child started Prep this year, and I started my Primary School Parent life by joining the Fete Committee. I did start to worry when the Fete Committee President kept referring to me as the “brave prep parent”, but I soon realised that this was not a job entered into lightly! As an Englishman woman in New York Melbourne I will be missing the extra UK Holiday on Friday 29th April this year. This is of course in honour and celebration of Prince William and (soon-to-be Princess) Kate’s marriage.

As St. Patrick’s Day comes around again, many will be bracing for a day of bad impressions and a sudden recollection of their long lost Irish ancestry. Some pubs that get ignored for the rest of the year suddenly are full, with cardboard cut out shamrocks and leprechauns hanging from any available space.
