Guest Post -How to win friends and disarm your enemies – Mum’s famous chocolate slice!

If ever there was a way to bring peaceful resolution to potential childhood playground politics it would be by offering up a slice of my Mum’s To.Die.For Chocolate Slice.

How do I know this? Because it was the currency by which I used to negotiate the wily ways of the schoolyard. There could be no enemies when my slice was at stake and it was a sure-fire way to ensure friends aplenty.   Read more…

Have you ever watched an American Christmas movie and wondered how lovely it would be to be rugged up in front of the fire with snow falling outside, Christmas carollers on your door step and hot egg nog in your hand? Here in Australia we are used to a summer time Christmas and we miss out on the “traditional” Christmas spirit that we see in movies and on Christmas cards. my kitchen crushHave you ever found yourself in a groove? Like the needle on a vinyl record, going round and round in the same endless pattern. That’s me right now. Thing is, I’m not unhappy with it.

I have a crush. An ardent crush. As passionate as my love for Leif Garrett when I was seven. Or for that poor boy in my year seven class. Only this time, the subject of my crush doesn’t have a cute song, glossy lips or great hair. This time, it has calcium, iron, phosphorous and vitamins A and C. It also contains glucosinolates (be still my beating heart), which may reduce the risks of certain cancers. Read more…
