There has been a lot of chat around the office and at school pick up about cooking in the slow cooker. Last winter I didn’t succumb to buying a slow cooker but this year was a different story. When Coles were selling them for less than $30, I figured I didn’t have much to loose. I’ve now had 3 attempts at using the slow cooker. The last experience was the most successful. So here are the lessons I learnt.

If there’s one thing I can’t go past in a Supermarket or homewares shop, it’s a nifty appliance I will use once then store in the cupboard to gather dust. My most recent purchase was a slow cooker, and this (believe me) has already proved itself deserving of a permanent place on my kitchen bench. If you don’t have one, buy one. They’re wonderful. Right-o, we’ve taken an obligatory portion of salads from the table to make mum happy, but now we can dig in to the reason for having this shin-dig in the first place.
