Santa has a big night ahead of him this Christmas. He has to visit girls and boys all over the world in just one day delivering them toys and happiness. Santa and his reindeer need some energy in between visiting the boys and girls so it is nice to leave some snacks for his journey.

This has been my daughters first year at school. She has learnt so much and has thoroughly enjoyed learning. My son is in grade 2 and when asked what he did today at school. A common answer is ” We played games”. When I delve further I find out he has been learning a core piece of the curriculum but in a fun way. My kids teachers have been wonderful again this year and as Christmas approaches we will be letting our teachers know they are appreciated. Mince pies are one of my favourite seasonal indulgences. My mum would always bake a giant container of them each year to wrap and give to people who would visit. Those mince pies would silently call me to sneak into the kitchen and eat one…. or two… sometimes three. Mum would end up finding out that I had eaten them when there were crumbs on the couch and the lid not put back on the container properly. Occasionally I would be caught red handed with my hand under the lid and given a lecture about how they weren’t for me and that I had better eat my dinner. Read more…
Christmas is such a wonderful time of year that is filled with festive food that we look forward to eating. Eggnog is a traditional Christmas drink using raw eggs and nutmeg as key ingredients. Usually it is just body builders who drink raw eggs, but at Christmas time everyone can drink them in a delicious form. Perhaps that is why our friend Santa is so muscular. Most people probably think Santa is fat but I’m sure he is just really muscley from drinking so much eggnog.
Eggnog is a really simple recipe that is nice to get the kids to help you make. This is a good opportunity to teach the kids how to crack an egg too (we all know how long that takes to master).
