Ooh la la easy French toast

Bonjour! Ooo hoo hoo hoooo I am wearing my beret and my stripey top mon cherie. Good morning! You can wake up to a bit of French in your kitchen with this simple recipe for French toast. It really does taste better if you are wearing a beret, but if you don’t have one you can just sing ”Frere Jacques, Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?’ on repeat. “Are you sleeping, are you sleeping”.. it’s a bit creepy if you sing it to someone while they are sleeping to wake them up. But I digress.

French toast is easy, fun, yummy and better than frog legs for breakfast. It’s so easy you can make it in a ”Le tired” state even before having a coffee in the morning! Read more…

An Egg By Any Other Name…

Egg Eye Toast

This morning I made a breakfast dish that my Dad used to make for me and my brother & sister when I was a kid.  My Dad used to make these Saturday mornings and called them “One-Eyed Egyptians”. I’m not sure where the name came from.  And asking around, people know this breakfast delight as many different names – toad in the hole, sunshine toast and egg in a basket to name just a few.

Foods I Wish I Liked

foods i wish i likedFood is, in my opinion, one of life’s great pleasures. I consider preparing and cooking food both enjoyable and therapeutic, and it provides rare freedom for my frustrated creative side. (The cynics I work with will just have to accept that I have one). I also consider sitting down with friends to enjoy a meal and a chinwag to be a great evening out (or in), particularly if the conversation avoids politics and religion and yet spends some time on food and flavours.
