Garden to your hearts delight

May 11, 2012 Leave a comment

It’s that time of year again when I manage to get out in the garden and see what the summer has done to destroy and or encourage my plants to stay with the family for another year.  The summer we had in Melbourne gave weather that was either very hot or very wet.  Therefore there have been some plants that have curled up and said “no, I can’t survive another year here” and others that have rejoiced in the almost tropical (I wish!) environment. 5 Things Not To Buy Mum For Mother’s Day.

May 4, 2012 4 comments

We love our mums no matter what kind of quirks they have. Right? They cared for us, cleaned our clothes, fed us, bought us treats (only on occasions), let us play with friends and make messy mud pies, fed us well, encouraged us to aim for the stars, paid for our ballet lessons and put up with our teenage mood swings, crazy hair dye jobs and boyfriends they may not have approved of (you’ve totally moved on to greener pastures now haven’t you)?

You probably should get your mother something that she will like and will make her feel special this mother’s day shouldn’t you? Yes you should. (This is your mother speaking)

Here are some things we recommend that you DON’T buy from Coles online for your mum this mother’s day. Read more…

The magic of becoming a new mum

February 17, 2012 1 comment

9 months – that is ages!!! Say’s who???

My husband and I were ecstatic at the prospect of becoming parents but still wonder where the time has gone.

It all seemed kind of surreal until we got the first photo of our little jelly bean. Even looking at the first scan picture now brings out a smile.  Knowing that you are now responsible for another human being, as daunting as it can be, is a wonderful feeling that is just too hard to put into words. The Ultimate Peri Peri Chicken Burger with Tzatziki and Kumara Chips

January 24, 2012 1 comment

With Australia day coming up I got to thinking about food I could make for my mates. Since i’m originally from New Zealand, I thought I’d put a bit of a Kiwi spin on things and make Kumara chips to pair with a good old spicy Aussie burger.

The Coles Grilled Range is great for barbeques with an awesome variety of cuts and flavours. My personal favourite is an oldie but a goodie that can be easily adapted for either a great dinner or a smash hit on the BBQ, Coles Grill Peri Peri Chicken Steaks.

Whilst a lot of people may be put off by peri peri thinking it’s too hot, this range has a bit of spice but no real kick meaning that it’s sure to be a hit even with those who can’t handle a bit of spice!
